Animation Dialogue was created during the HFF - CUC Summer Academy 2007 in Beijing, China. Over the course of 3 weeks, I worked with the Chinese animation student Ji Fang on a joint movie project.

"Animation Dialogue" is an attempt to create an animated film documenting how two people from different cultures get to know each other. What pictures do we have about that other person? And how do these pictures change as we get closer to each other?

The main concept was to directly transfer our feelings and observations into animation. Fang would draw her experiences and thoughts about me (reflected on the left side of the movie), whereas I would draw about her on the right side. Each day we added another few seconds to our movie. The progress of our work was documented on a weblog. And without a deadline we could have worked on and on and on….
